ARCO '08 gets under way

This year ARCO will present some new features within the framework of its general programme. One particularly noteworthy initiative is the creation of a new segment dedicated to recently created contemporary art from Spain and the international scene. This section will be known as ARCO40.

In addition to the general programme and ARCO40, a team of prestigious international curators will present an interesting selection of works for the sections Solo Projects, Expanded-Box and Performing ARCO:

·         Solo Projects is aimed at showing the work of a single artist.

·         Expanded-Box is a section devoted to new galleries and artists on the cutting edge of technological art, with the focus on video works.

·         Performing ARCO centres exclusively on promoting one of the most vibrant and influential forms of creative expression in contemporary culture: performance or live art.

Visitors to the Madrid fair will also have a chance to see the best of contemporary Brazilian art, with a total of 32 galleries from the country present at the event.

As for exhibition spaces, the 27th edition of ARCO will introduce a new layout and design for the art fair, with two new pavilions: 12 and 14.
