4th Wind Objects in Art Competition

This unusual art competition and exhibition will take place in the German district of Hesse from the 17th to the 31st of August 2008. Under the title Windform, the competition covers both forms that the wind can generate and objects that move thanks to the wind. The selected works will be included in an exhibition of land art. The deadline for preregistration is 30 April 2008. The event is being organised by the District of Waldeck-Frankenberg and the GeoPark of the same name.

The competition seeks to explore this element in a number of different ways, encompassing both forms created by the wind and forms designed for the wind. The subject may be approached from the perspective of aerodynamics or by focusing on the way wind shapes landscapes, trees, stone structures, clouds, or weather phenomena. Participants may also examine people's attitudes and responses to bitter winter winds or a pleasant summer breeze, and how these affect them.

It will be interesting to see how artists respond to the competition's challenging theme. A prize of €2500 will be awarded.
