Registration period opens for
Landscape and Territory course

The CDAN has just opened the registration period for the specialised course Landscape and Territory, which will run in Huesca from the 23rd to the 27th of June 2008. Invited speakers will include not only theorists and historians of art and landscape, but also creators of landscape and artists who work in and with the landscape. The speakers are recognised Spanish and international experts in their professional or research fields. The closing date for registration is 13 June 2008. Places are limited, and applications will be processed strictly in the order in which they are received. [+]

Wanås Skulpturpark

This sculpture park is located in Knislinge, Sweden. Since 1987 the Wanås Foundation has supported artistic interventions in nature by internationally acclaimed artists. [+]

David Nash

David Nash has received a great deal of international recognition for his interventions in nature. This lavishly illustrated book takes a look at many of Nash’s works and includes an introduction by art critic and historian Norbert Lynton.  [+]

Guided tours of the CDAN

The CDAN’s Education Department offers free guided group visits. Times for visits must be arranged in advance. Visits can be scheduled on weekends at three different times: Saturdays at 12 noon and 6pm, and Sundays at 12 noon. [+]

ARCO '08 gets under way

The 27th International Contemporary Art Fair, ARCO'08 – featuring Brazil as an invited country – will be held in Madrid from the 13th to the 18th of February 2008. This edition of the event will be attended by 295 galleries from 34 countries. ARCO'08 will be open to the public starting Friday, February 15. In addition to the usual sections, visitors will find a number of new areas such as ARCO40, a segment devoted to recently created contemporary art from Spain and the international scene. They will also see some changes in the distribution and design of the fair. [+]

A look at forests through the optic
of art and microarchitecture 

The eighth edition of the biennial Manifestation Internationale de Champ Libre will be held in Montreal from the 24th to the 28th of September 2008. This year the central theme for the event will be the forest. Participants are free to interpret the theme proposed by the organisers, and it is through their interpretations that the programming of the biennial will take shape. 

The call for projects is currently open. Submissions may be made by creators working in the fields of art, architecture, new technologies, or public space. The deadline for proposals is 1 March 2008. [+]

 

39th EDRA Conference in Mexico

The 39th International Conference of the Environmental Design Research Association (EDRA) will be held in Veracruz (Mexico) from May 28 to June 1, 2008. The title of this year’s conference – Linking Differences / Defining Actions – highlights the need to explore how environmental design can be used to collaboratively solve common challenges and help link different subcultures based on the implementation of specific plans and the development of effective local strategies. [+]

CDAN publishes exhibition catalogue for the Josep María Civit Collection

The CDAN has published a catalogue documenting an exhibition of the Josep María Civit Collection. The exhibition – Private Life: Representations of Contemporary Tragedy and Banality – was the first to publicly present the collection in Spain. The catalogue is a contemporary art book in its own right, a 354-page publication that includes about 170 works by the artists that are most representative of the collection: Sol LeWitt, Ángela de la Cruz, Dan Flavin, Joao Onofre, Jannis Kounellis, Per Barclay, Liliana Porter and Candida Höffer. 4th Wind Objects in Art Competition

This unusual art competition and exhibition will take place in the German district of Hesse from the 17th to the 31st of August 2008. Under the title Windform, the competition covers both forms that the wind can generate and objects that move thanks to the wind.

The selected works will be included in an exhibition of land art. The deadline for preregistration is 30 April 2008. The event is being organised by the District of Waldeck-Frankenberg and the GeoPark of the same name. [+]
