The exhibition The Construction of the Contemporary Landscape at the CDAN

The Construction of the Contemporary Landscape – an exhibition curated by Javier Maderuelo and María Luisa Martín de Argila – will open at the CDAN on May 23. The show will take a look at the different ways landscape is currently interpreted and how landscape has been recovered in the arts over the postmodern period. The show, which will run until September 27, will be accompanied by an exceptional exhibition catalogue and a course entitled Landscape and Territory.  [+]

Skulpturlandskap Nordland

This sculpture park, located in Norway, is the largest in the world, covering 40,000 km². So far over 33 international artists have created works in the remarkable Nordic landscape. The project has drawn tourists from around the world to the various municipalities where the works are located. [+]

Weather report : Climate Change and Visual Arts

This publication presents the photographic work produced by 13 artists for the exhibition Weather Report: Climate Change and Visual Arts, which was held from 13 July to 16 September 2007 at the Centro Atlántico de Arte Moderno in Canary Islands. The artists involved seek to draw attention to the critical issue of environmental deterioration. [+]

Guided tours of the CDAN

The CDAN’s Education Department offers free guided group visits. Times for visits must be arranged in advance. Visits can be scheduled on weekends at three different times: Saturdays at 12 noon and 6pm, and Sundays at 12 noon. [+]

International Garden Festival of Chaumont-sur-Loire gets under way

The Garden Festival of Chaumont-sur-Loire began on April 30 and will run until October 19. This year the festival is organised by the Domaine de Chaumont-sur-Loire, a new institution set up in February that encompasses the International Conservatory of Parks, Gardens and Landscape of Chaumont-sur-Loire; the International Garden Festival, the Château de Chaumont and the Chaumont-sur-Loire Park. The title of this year's edition is Des jardins en partage. [+]

Registration deadline for
Landscape and Territory
course nears

The course Landscape and Territory, which will run from June 23 to 27 in Huesca, is organised by the CDAN within the Thinking Landscape series.

This year's edition will bring together distinguished lecturers who have gained recognition in Spain and internationally for their work in the fields of landscape design, art, geography, land-use planning, and urbanism.

The registration deadline is 12 June 2008 (places are limited). [+]

Art and Nature Biennial

The fifth edition of the Contemporary Art Biennial ‘in’ and ‘with’ nature will be held from 13 May to 11 June 2008. The event is organised by TECOMAH, the environment school of the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Over a two-month period, internationally renowned artists working in this field will use the techniques of Land Art to create new ephemeral works in a 120-ha park located in Jouy-en-Josas, 20 km from Paris. [+]

Vicente Villarrocha opens doors
to the Beulas-Sarrate Collection

The sixth exhibition held within the framework of the project A Glimpse Within: New Horizons in the Personal Geography of the Beulas-Sarrate Collection, opened on April 11.

In this case the works featured were selected by Aragonese artist Vicente Villarrocha, who uses doors as a metaphor in an exhibition entitled Knock, Knock, Behind the Door, offering us an opportunity to share his personal vision of the collection held by the CDAN. The show will run until 18 May 2008. [+]

 

Senegal prepares for
Dak'Art 2008 Biennale

The eighth edition of the Dak’Art 2008 biennial of contemporary African art gets under way on May 9. During the event Senegal will become a showcase for contemporary African art and the creativity of the continent’s artists.

The presence of art professionals and enthusiasts from around the world underscores the interest generated by the Biennale of Dakar. [+]
