 and Territory
course

June 12 is the deadline to register for this course, which is organised by the CDAN within the framework of the Thinking Landscape series. A limited number of places are available.

From June 23 to 27 lecturers who have won acclaim in Spain and internationally will gather in Huesca to examine relationships between landscape and territory from diverse perspectives, including those provided by landscape design, contemporary art, geography and town planning. [+]

 

 

 

Art and Nature

Sculpture in Woodland

This 218-ha sculpture park in Devils Glenn Wood, Ireland has a unique collection of 16 contemporary works by Irish and international artists. To discover the works, visitors must hike along two trails (2.6 km and 6 km in length). [+]

Guided tours of the CDAN

The CDAN’s Education Department offers free guided group visits. Times for visits must be arranged in advance. Visits can be scheduled on weekends at three different times: Saturdays at 12 noon and 6pm, and Sundays at 12 noon. [+]

The Construction of the Contemporary Landscape opens

The CDAN’s major summer exhibition was inaugurated on May 23. The Construction of the Contemporary Landscape looks at how artists have rediscovered landscape in the postmodern period.

The opening was well attended, and several of the artists and landscape architects represented in the exhibition were on hand. The show is curated by Javier Maderuelo and María Luisa Martín de Argila and will run until September 28. [+]

CDAN represented at EXPOZARAGOZA through the work of Lara Almarcegui

Just 15 days before the opening of the International Expo Zaragoza 2008, the Meandro de Ranillas area is almost completely ready to host an event that is sure to mark the future of the city of Zaragoza.

The participants in EXPOZARAGOZA 2008 are countries, Spain’s autonomous regions, international bodies and companies. The event will encompass over 140 pavilions. The CDAN is supervising and organising the contribution by Lara Almarcegui, Un descampado en la Ribera del Ebro (Open Ground on the Banks of the Ebro).  [+]

 

100 days of culture, gardens and landscapes at the Apeldoorn Triennial

The Landscape Architecture Triennial will open on June 11 in the Dutch town of Apeldoorn, located 90 km from Amsterdam.

This major international event is directed at both the general public and professionals working in the field of landscape architecture.

The International Triennial Apeldoorn is a platform for debate that offers an opportunity to enjoy landscape in all its forms. The triennial also includes programming for children that seeks to raise awareness in the next generation.

The event will run until 28 September 2008. [+]

Approaches to Sculpture in the Landscape symposium in Leeds

Organised by the Sculpture Network in collaboration with the University of Leeds (UK), the symposium will be held in the British city from the 4th to the 7th of September 2008.

Lectures will be given by representatives of some of Europe's leading sculpture parks. The programme also includes a visit to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, located near Leeds, which is one of the continent’s foremost sculpture parks. [+]

 

Conference on Landscapes, Identities and Development

The 23rd session of the Permanent European Conference for the Study of the Rural Landscape (PECSRL) will be held in Lisbon and the nearby town of Óbidos from 1-5 September 2008. The conference is organised by the Territory, Culture and Development Research Centre and the Municipality of Óbidos (Portugal). As the title of the conference indicates, its aim is to promote interaction and an exchange of ideas around the role of landscape as an element in the identity of a territory and in its development. [+]
