Frieze Art Fair 2008 gets underway |
One of the world's leading art fairs will be held in London from October 16 to 19. During the four-day fair, participating galleries will present works by over 1000 contemporary artists. Last year’s edition of the event drew more than 68,000 visitors and saw an increase in the level of attendance for international art collectors, curators and directors of museums and contemporary art centres. The fair also includes a varied educational and cultural programme. |

The Frieze Art Fair is held in Regent’s Park, London. This year’s edition will feature more than 150 art galleries. In addition to showcasing the work of artists from Europe, America and Japan, special attention is given to emerging markets such as Brazil, China, India and Russia. One of the peculiarities of the fair, organised by the Frieze Foundation, is that it focuses exclusively on the work of living artists.
The programme also includes Frieze Talks, a space for reflection and education on contemporary art. A series of keynote lectures, panel debates and discussions will take place during the four days that the fair runs. Topics covered will include the art scene in China and issues related to aesthetics, museum practices and other relevant concerns. Two other complementary activities are Frieze Film, a competition that invites participants to create short films for the fair, and Frieze Music, a selection of concerts aimed at enriching the event. Ticket sales Tickets may be purchased at the website for the fair (see link below) or by calling: +44 (0) 870 890 0514. Opening hours The fair will open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on October 16, 17 and 18. On Sunday the 19th, the fair will close at 6 p.m. More information and contact details
