CDAN opens Heresies, a retrospective of the work of Pedro Meyer An exhibition entitled Heresies, featuring the work of artist Pedro Meyer, opens at the CDAN on 3 October. The retrospective covers five decades of the output of one of the world's most innovative artists. The exhibition, which is opening simultaneously at 100 museums worldwide, breaks new ground in terms of the approach taken to exhibiting photography. Heresies is being staged in collaboration with the Periferias Festival and runs until 9 November. [+] |

opens The Disappearance, photographs by Magdalena
Correa On 10 October, the CDAN will open an exhibition that showcases the latest creation by Chilean artist Magdalena Correa. Correa’s photographs take us on a journey to the Gobi and Atacama deserts, conveying an image of the territory as she investigates its most evident characteristics. The exhibition, co-produced by the CDAN and Casa Asia, will later travel to Madrid, New York, São Paulo, Santiago de Chile and Beijing. The Disappearance will run until 11 January 2009. [+] |

Paulo fills with art The 28th São Paulo Biennial of modern art – the most important Latin American plastic arts event – will be held in the Brazilian city from 26 October to 6 December. The main aim is to raise awareness of modern Brazilian art. The director of this year's edition, Ivo Mesquita, wants to make this exhibition a biennial without artworks. [+] |

2nd competition for audiovisual works: Instantes del Paisaje 08 The CDAN has opened the second competition for audiovisual works in collaboration with Huesca’s Fundación Festival de Cine. The aim of the competition, Instantes de Paisaje 08 (Landscape Moments 08), is to select a maximum of 10 projects with the aim of promoting the idea of landscape and audiovisual creation. The deadline for submitting entries is 2:00 p.m. on 13 October 2008. [+] |

2nd International Conference on Landscape and Urban Horticulture The University of Bologna will host the 2nd International Conference on Landscape and Urban Horticulture from 9 to 13 June 2009. The conference will focus on the relationship between people, plants and quality of life, and take a transversal approach to ecophysiology, psychology and landscape architecture. The deadline for submitting conference abstracts is 13 October. [+] |

Frieze Art Fair 2008 gets underway One of the world's leading art fairs will be held in London from October 16 to 19. During the four-day fair, participating galleries will present works by over 1000 contemporary artists. Last year’s edition of the event drew more than 68,000 visitors and saw an increase in the level of attendance for international art collectors, curators and directors of museums and contemporary art centres. The fair also includes a varied educational and cultural programme. [+] |
