The second International Meeting of Contemporary Art Directors will be held in Cáceres on November 6-8 under the title ‘Dentro del museo, el infinito a juicio’ (Inside the Museums, Infinity Goes Up on Trial). The project is directed by the Association of Spanish Contemporary Art Directors (ADACE) and organised by the Ministry of Culture, the State Corporation for Spanish Cultural Action Abroad (SEACEX), and the Regional Government of Extremadura. |

The second international meeting reflects the determination of the Association of Spanish Contemporary Art Directors (ADACE) to consolidate its role as a forum for exchange and reflection on museums and contemporary art centres in Spain, and to build an Ibero-American network that facilitates the exchange of experiences between professionals working in the field. At the meeting held in Baeza in 2006, participants considered the universalising role of museums as an ideal in terms of construction of discourse and the role museums play in education. At the meeting in Cáceres, participants will continue to explore these issues. In addition, within the framework of activities organised to mark the Ibero-American Year of Museums, the event will seek to contribute to theoretical reflection on present and future challenges facing contemporary art museums, with the participation of numerous professionals based in Spain and the Americas. One of those taking part will be Édouard Glissant, who will give the opening lecture. The other lecturers will be Tania Bruguera, María del Carmen Cossu, Paulo Portella Filho, Martín Grossmann, Jorge La Ferla, José Carlos Mariátegui, Joao Fernández, Andrea Giunta, Rubén Martínez, Ricardo Basbaum, Rodrigo Quijano and Paulina Varas. The moderators for the various discussions will be Alicia Chillida, Antonio Franco, Ferran Barenblit and Teresa Velázquez. More information
