Europos Parkas: a sculpture park at the centre of Europe

Europos Parkas is Lithuanian for Europe Park. The sculpture park, one of the continent’s most important open-air contemporary art museums, is located just 20 minutes from the centre of Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. Europos Parkas lies at the geographical centre of Europe (as determined by the French National Geographic Institute in 1989). As a result, references to the European territory are frequent along the routes visitors can follow as they explore this green space.

Founded in 1991 by Lithuanian sculptor Gintaras Karosas, the 55-ha park showcases over 100 sculptures by well-known contemporary artists, including Dennis Oppenheim, Sol LeWitt and Magdalena Abakanowicz.

The site is currently one of the most visited places in Lithuania.

Services

Europos Parkas boasts a restaurant, a gift shop and a post office. There’s also an educational service that offers guided tours in English, Lithuanian and Russian. In addition to these activities, the park promotes an artist residency programme in which many artists have participated in recent years

Opening hours

The sculpture park is open every day from 10 a.m. till sundown.
