4th Land Art Encounter in Camargue

An exhibition entitled IN SITU 0.4 will be held in Camargue, in the Rhône Delta (France), from 9 to 18 May 2009. The project, created by the association Cultures Nomades, involves the installation of artworks related to the environment and the region’s natural heritage. The deadline for submitting project proposals is 31 January 2009.

The Camargue is the name of the Rhône Delta area, which lies between two branches of the river and the Mediterranean. Situated south of the city of Arles, the region is one of great natural beauty and is famous for its many lagoons.

The Camargue provides the natural setting for a land art festival organised by Cultures Nomades and held every year in the month of May. Organisers select a maximum of 10 artists to take part, three or four of whom are from Arles and the surrounding area.

Participating artists will each receive a grant of 800 euros to create and execute their project. Travel and accommodation expenses will also be reimbursed (see conditions of participation for details).

The conditions of participation for the event can be found at the official Cultures Nomades website.
