2nd Seminar on Contemporary Art and Special Education |

This seminar will be held on June 12 and 13, 2009 at the Centre d’Art La Panera in Lérida. The deadline for registration is May 17. Participants who wish to present papers at the event may submit their proposals until March 12. |

The second edition of the event emerges from a 2008-2009 project involving a network of exchanges between special education programmes and contemporary art centres in Europe's Pyrenees-Mediterranean region. This initiative, promoted by the Centre d’Art La Panera, has been carried out in collaboration with the CDAN (Centro de Arte y Naturaleza) in Huesca, Es Baluard Museu d’Art Modern i Contemporani in Palma, and the Centre Regional d’Art Contemporain Languedoc-Roussillon in Sčte (France). The project involves analysing, studying and sharing experiences with professionals working in the field of mental health, with the objective of creating a theoretical framework for educational programmes aimed at people with intellectual disabilities, mental disorders and other illnesses. This seminar will present the results of the research work done by the four art centres, and will include the participation of specialists on contemporary culture who are currently working on this subject. The seminar is directed at professionals and educators working for entities that provide care for people with physical, mental and intellectual disabilities and the mentally ill, and at professionals in the field of art and education.
