Over the course of 2009 a number of activities will be held in Paris and the Swiss municipality of Isérables with the aim of relating the creation of music to nature. The Architecture, Music and Ecology meeting, organised by the AME Association (Architecture Musique Écologie), will take place at the end of August. In addition to this event, a series of other meetings, workshops and prize-related activities are scheduled for the spring and summer. |

The first meeting planned for this year will be held on April 3-4 in the La Villette district of Paris. The event, which will encompass a series of lectures and discussions, is aimed at bringing together sound professionals and people with an interest in the environment. The meetings are organised by the Ecole d'Architecture de Paris – La Villette. The first meeting will include the workshop ‘Acoustic Ecology and Musical Composition’ and the ‘Architecture, Music and Ecology Meetings’. The workshop is directed at composers, architects, town planners, landscape architects, and anyone else interested in issues related to the sound environment. The meetings will address both theoretical and practical issues related to environmental sound, and student projects will also be presented. Giuseppe Englert Prize The Giuseppe Englert Prize is aimed at supporting the execution of a project on the sound quality of the environment. Anyone attending the workshop ‘Acoustic Ecology and Musical Composition’ may submit a proposal (deadline May 30). The winner will carry out his or her project during the ‘Architecture, Music and Ecology Meetings’. The meetings, organised by Rencontres Architecture-Musique-Écologie, will be held on 26-30 August 2009 in Manoir de Martigny (Switzerland). The encounters are always held in Le Valais, Switzerland, where the diversity of the landscape and social environment provide the perfect setting. Works by Peter Streiff, Anne Bussard, Richard Jean, Rudi Decellier, Louis Roquin, Marie Gailland, Pierre Mariétan, Monica Perez-Albela and Sabine Zaleene will be presented. Projects executed at the ‘Acoustic Ecology and Musical Composition’ workshop will also be showcased, and the event will include lectures, discussions, performances and concerts. The meetings are being organised by Jean-Nicole, Michel Voillat and Pierre Mariétan.
