Activities for special needs groups at the CDAN |
The CDAN, the Beulas Foundation’s Centro de Arte y Naturaleza, offers guided tours and educational workshops tailored to the needs of every group, with special emphasis on the groups that have traditionally run into the most difficulties when trying to access to culture and art. |
The CDAN is one of the participants in a project involving a network of exchanges between special education programmes and contemporary art centres in Europe's Pyrenees-Mediterranean region. The initiative, which is running during the 2008-09 academic year, is aimed at providing museum professionals with the skills needed to integrate people with mental and behavioural disorders in museum activities as a normal part of their work. The goal is to provide quality service to the public. Particular emphasis is put on adapting content, educational materials, and the explanations given during guided tours to the specific needs of each group. These resources are intended to provide better access to contemporary art by including those with special needs rather than excluding them. In offering these workshops and guided tours, the Centro de Arte y Naturaleza is seeking to become a place open to everyone and ensure that most groups have access to the content and programmes on offer.
