Second International Green Roof Congress

The Second International Green Roof Congress will be held in Nuertingen (Germany) from 25 to 27 May 2009. The event, organised by the International Green Roof Association (IGRA) and the Roof Gardener Association (DDV), will include practical workshops and excursions to local green roof projects.

The first Green Roof Congress, held in 2004, contributed to spreading the green roof concept across the globe. This year’s event will provide a new opportunity to exchange experiences and build on the success of the previous edition.

Recognised international green roof experts will discuss the current situation and the future of green roofs. No other element in sustainable architecture has seen technical innovations develop so fast.

The congress programme will have an interactive component, with practical workshops and excursions to green roof projects. The congress languages will be English and German.

Technological advances in recent years will be one of the focal points for discussions and lectures. Other key subjects will include green roof projects designed by renowned architectural firms, and international guidelines and standards relating to green roofs.

The congress is aimed at architects, landscape gardeners and anyone interested in learning about the latest technological advances in a field where architecture and landscape converge and the roofs of buildings are viewed as a key consideration in the construction process.
