Landscape and History
course eagerly anticipated

The registration period for the CDAN’s ‘Landscape and History’ course will remain open until 12 June. Lectures will take place from 22 to 26 June in Huesca. The course will feature prominent international lecturers who represent different directions currently being pursued in the field of landscape history. The number of students taking part in these courses has grown each year since the ‘Thinking Landscape’ series began in 2006. [+]

 

Art and Nature

Laumeier Sculpture Park

Within the United States, the 42-ha Laumeier Sculpture Park in Saint Louis, Missouri is a leading site for contemporary sculpture in the landscape. Founded in the 1970s, the sculpture park now receives over 300,000 annual visits. [+]

Publications

Plossu. The land of landscapes.
[exhibition catalogue]

The CDAN has published a catalogue to accompany an exhibition of work by photographer Bernard Plossu, which runs from 4 April to 14 June 2009. The 343-page catalogue showcases the photographs featured in the show, together with texts by writer Antonio Ansón, who, through a series of characters, gives voice to the landscapes immortalised by Plossu’s camera.  [+]

Ponte de Lima International Garden Festival to get underway 29 May

The municipal council of Ponte de Lima (in the North of Portugal) is organising an international garden festival that will run from 29 May to 31 October 2009. The theme of the fifth edition of the event is As artes no jardim (arts in the garden). The festival has gradually developed into one of the most important held on the Iberian Peninsula. [+]

MSc / Postgraduate Diploma in the Conservation of Historic Gardens and Cultural Landscapes

For the 2009/2000 academic year, the University of Bath (United Kingdom) will offer an MSc / Postgraduate Diploma in the Conservation of Historic Gardens and Cultural Landscapes. The programme takes advantage of the rich historic and cultural landscapes of Bath, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. [+]

 

CDAN opens exhibition of photographs by Bernard Plossu

On 4 April the CDAN opened a show showcasing the work of French photographer Bernard Plossu. Entitled The land of Landscapes, the show chronicles a personal journey and conveys a sense of the way Plossu sees the landscape of Huesca during his travels there. Plossu is regarded as one of the leading photographers on the international art scene. The exhibition will run until 14 June. [+]

Blickachsen 7 begins

The 7th edition of the Blickachsen contemporary sculpture biennial will open in the German town of Bad Homburg von der Höhe (near Frankfurt) on 17 May. Participants in previous editions of the biennial have included artists such as David Nash, Ulrich Rückriem, Per Kirkeby, Carl André, Eduardo Chillida and Ricardo Calero. The show will run until 4 October. [+]
