CDAN inaugurates exhibition and landscape work by Per Kirkeby

On 26 June the CDAN will open a show by Danish artist Per Kirkeby, who was also invited to create the seventh landscape work added to the Art and Nature collection. His work entitled Plan (shown in the image) will be inaugurated in the municipality of the same name, located in the Pyrenees. Kirkeby is one of the most internationally acclaimed artists of recent decades. [+]

Jupiter Artland

Jupiter Artland, located less than 20 km from Edinburgh, is a park that showcases an important collection of contemporary sculpture. Thirty-two hectares of fields and woodland provide the setting for works by acclaimed and emerging artists, designed specifically with the landscape in mind. [+]

Publications

Manuel, by Per Kirkeby

Manuel (‘manual’ in English) is an essential work for understanding Per Kirkeby’s artistic experience. the book discusses aspects of architecture, painting and sculpture that come together in the work of the Danish artist. What makes Manuel such an important work is the insight it provides into how Kirkeby has been influenced by geology and his experience of nature over his artistic career. [+]

Last days to register for ‘Landscape and History’ course

The registration period for the CDAN’s ‘Landscape and History’ course will remain open until 12 June. Lectures will take place from 22 to 26 June in Huesca. The course will feature prominent international lecturers who represent different directions currently being pursued in the field of landscape history. [+]

Lausanne Jardins 2009
gets underway

The Swiss city of Lausanne will soon be hosting the fourth edition of Lausanne Jardins, a show dedicated to the art of contemporary gardening in an urban setting. The event is organised by the Association Jardin Urbain. From 20 June to 24 October, visitors to Lausanne will find a public space extending from the upper part of the city to the shore of Lake Geneva – 30 projects that combine contemporary art and nature, executed by internationally acclaimed landscape architects. Estuaire 2009: art and nature on the banks of the Loire

From 5 June to 16 August, the estuary of the Loire River, between Nantes and Saint-Nazaire, will provide the backdrop for works by leading contemporary artists and landscape architects.

Along the 60-km stretch of riverbank, visitors will find 30 works that relate art and nature to the environmental, industrial and cultural heritage of the Loire Valley. [+]

Art Basel show turns 40

The 40th edition of Art Basel, the world’s premier international art show, will be held from 10 to 14 June 2009. A number of projects that showcase public art in an urban context will be presented in the exhibition square. This year visitors will be able to see works by over 2500 artists, represented by 300 galleries from around the world. [+]
