Bertrand de Lassus y el Pirineo aragonés. With text by Jean Labarère. Huesca : Diputación de Huesca, 2009. 165 pages with black-and-white illustrations.

This publication takes a look at the photographic work of the celebrated French mountaineer Baron Bertrand de Lassus (1868-1909). Lassus was captivated by the beauty of the mountains. When he was a young man he began to undertake expeditions to the highest peaks in the Aragonese Pyrenees, searching out with his camera spots that were practically unexplored at the time. The book offers a wealth of images of mountain landscapes – crests, glaciers and valleys – along with photographs that provide something close to an ethnographic view of the Aragonese Pyrenees in the 20th century.
