Córdoba to host III International Congress on Landscape and Infrastructures

The event, to be held from 15 to 17 April, is also being convened as the 9th Council of Europe Meeting of the Workshops for the Implementation of the European Landscape Convention. One of the aims is to ensure that landscape criteria are taken into account along with other factors when planning and executing infrastructure projects.

The programme for the congress includes four workshops and a study visit:

Workshop 1: European Networks and Landscape. The aim of this workshop is to systematise the complexity and richness of European landscapes while also considering the mobility of people within landscapes and the attributes of transport systems, with a view to building a structured and integrated vision that gives landscapes meaning and recognises their value.

Workshop 2: Infrastructures and Landscape in a Sustainable Model. This workshop will look at infrastructures, the key role they play in the social and economic dynamics of a territory, and how they provide essential support for sustainability, in relation to which landscape is central.

Workshop 3: Landscape Criteria for Infrastructure Design. This workshop will look at the planning and design of infrastructure within the context of surrounding landscapes. Taking landscape into account requires a consistent vision based on a renewed technical approach that treats landscape and its resources as an additional technical referent and factor in execution.

Workshop 4: Infrastructures for the Landscape and Its Restoration. This workshop looks at the implementation of specific infrastructure projects that bring people into closer contact with landscape in a positive and effective way. The focus will be on projects that promote landscape awareness and create infrastructures which facilitate recovery and renewal of degraded landscapes.

To wrap up the congress, there will be a study visit to a landscape in the metropolitan area of Córdoba, and participants will consider its relationship to infrastructure.
