Rummaging in the Garbage: Waste and Recycling in Contemporary Art [exhibition catalogue]

A catalogue has been published to accompany Rummaging in the Garbage, an exhibition being held at the CDAN from 5 February to 9 May 2010. In addition to presenting the works shown, the catalogue includes a text by Joan Nogué in which he considers the issue of waste in the contemporary landscape.

The artists and collectives represented are Basurama, Donna Conlon, Mark Dion, Regina José Galindo, Chus García-Fraile, Chris Jordan, Vik Muniz, Ester Partegàs, and Diet Wiegman. The catalogue offers a brief presentation of each of these participants.

The foreword by Seve Penelas, the curator of the exhibition, and the text by Joan Nogué, Professor of Human Geography at the University of Girona and Director of the Landscape Observatory of Catalonia, reflect a new approach to landscapes which, though not hidden, we usually do not want to see.
