Measurable [exhibition catalogue] |
From 14 May to 19 September the CDAN is hosting Measurable, an exhibition that looks at how images (mainly photographic, but also film, video, and even spectrographic images) can be used to analyse and explore diverse scientific aspects of reality related to nature. |
The exhibition catalogue examines this subject based on a view of photography as a tool for advancing science. The images reflect the work of many scientists engaged in observing and analysing natural phenomena, including botanists, astronomers, meteorologists, doctors, physicists, geologists, and other specialists. While the content of the publication explores the relationship between images and nature, the focus is not restricted to natural landscapes as traditionally understood: the book reflects a more specific link between photography, film or video and science. The images from science and nature include everything from the first moon maps and shots of Martian landscapes to the first high-resolution photographs of DNA strands, photographs used to analyse the flight of storks, and images that facilitate the study of climate change by allowing scientists to observe the retreat of glaciers.
