Last days to register for ‘Landscape and Heritage’ course

The registration period for this specialised course, the last in the ‘Thinking Landscape’ series, will close on 16 June. Over the last five years, these courses have analysed relationships between ‘landscape’ and other disciplines. This year the focus will be on issues related to the interpretation of landscape from a heritage perspective, conservation criteria, and the different ways in which this field might evolve in the future. Showcase for art and nature in the Ruhr Basin

From May and September, Emscher Island in Germany is hosting the ‘EmscherKunst’ art and nature exhibition. The event, held within the framework of the Ruhr 2010 European Capital of Culture, will take place in an environment that is undergoing the most extensive process of plant regeneration anywhere in the world. Along a 34-km route visitors will find 20 projects aimed at highlighting the value of landscape. [+]

Measurable: the CDAN’s exhibition for the summer

Measurable, which will run until 19 September at the Centro de Arte y Naturaleza, focuses on how images (mainly photographic, but also film, video, and even spectrographic images) can be used as a means of analysing and exploring diverse scientific aspects of reality related to nature. Museum De Paviljoens organises visits to works of land art

From 2 May to 27 June, this museum located in Almere (Netherlands) organises excursions with professional guides to visit one of Europe’s most outstanding art and nature collections. In addition to providing participants with information on the artworks, guides explain how the province of Flevoland was reclaimed from the sea during the 20th century. [+]

Pioneers of land art
at the Koldo Mitxelena

In an exhibition entitled El paisaje como idea: proyectos y proyecciones, 1960-1980 [Landscape As Idea: Projects and Projections, 1960-1980], the Koldo Mitxelena art centre in San Sebastian will showcase a number of installations executed in nature that were cutting-edge when first created and are now regarded as classics. The show, which will include works by Joseph Beuys, Walter de Maria, Richard Long and Robert Smithson, among others, will run from 10 June to 25 September. Curated by Berta Sichel.  [+]
