Excursion to explore Art and Nature Collection-Route

The Huesca Provincial Council’s Instituto de Estudios Altoaragoneses and the CDAN are organising an excursion to visit some of the pieces that comprise the Art and Nature Collection-Route. The outing will take place on 9 April 2011. The works visited on the first excursion will be Siglo XX by Ulrich Rückriem, sited in Abiego, and Árboles como arqueología by Fernando Casás, located next to the Hermitage of la Corona in Piracés. The CDAN would like to dedicate this article to one of the most renowned Japanese museums as a show of support for Japanese culture and society, which have recently been dealt a severe blow by the forces of nature. [+]

Botánica: After Humboldt

The CDAN has published the catalogue for an exhibition that focuses on nature photography. Through the eyes of six artists, we are offered an insight into the beauty of plants and botanical science. [+]

Botánica. After Humboldt exhibitions open at the CDAN

The exhibition Botánica: After Humboldt, which opened at the CDAN on 11 March, features work by photographers Manuel Armengol, Alberto Baraya, Joan Fontcuberta, Juan Carlos Martínez, Rafael Navarro y Juan Urrios, whose peculiar botanical studies recover a direct form of beauty and reconstruct other imagined possibilities. The show is curated by Rosa Olivares and will run until 22 May. [+]

Pyrenees: Landscapes for Walking exhibition opens

The exhibition, which will run from 5 March to 24 April 2011 at the Espacio Pirineos de Graus (Huesca), explores the history of artistic creation inspired by the Pyrenees. The CDAN is collaborating with the show by providing a number of works from its collection on loan. [+]

 

Inauguration of Pablo Serrano Aragonese Institute of Contemporary Art and Culture

On 23 March, the Pablo Serrano Aragonese Institute of Contemporary Art and Culture (IAACC) opened its doors with three exhibitions: Historia de un proyecto, O con la estrella o en la cueva and Noreste. The museum’s collections currently include 3170 works. [+]

César Manrique Foundation recognised for its work

On 2 March, the César Manrique Foundation picked up the New Territorial Culture Award in Madrid for its role in ‘defending the natural and cultural values of the island of Lanzarote, and in particular for its model of best practices in the sustainable management of tourism uses of the island.’ The César Manrique Foundation has been working to defend these values for the last 20 years.
