CDAN to showcase work of Lluís Hortalà in upcoming exhibition

On 1 October, the CDAN will open an exhibition that will explore the theme of mountains in Lluís Hortalà’s work. Based on the climber’s experience – from which the artist returns as if from “the other side” – the show will also offer a critical view of our habitual way of seeing. Hortalà has worked with the Montserrat massif and is currently focusing his attention on the Mallos de Riglos. These new works will be presented for the first time at the CDAN. The exhibition will run until 29 January 2012. [+]

Robert Smithson:
40 years in Europe

In 1971, Robert Smithson, one of the leading pioneers of land art and the Earthworks movement, constructed a work entitled Broken Circle / Spiral Hill near Emmen (Netherlands). The work is the only landscape intervention by the artist outside the United States that is still conserved.

As a tribute to Smithson, whose life and artistic career were cut short two years after the work was created, a series of activities focusing on the artist will take place from September to November. [+]
